Back in November 2020, we installed one of our visiting pods at a care home in Oxfordshire on an initial 12 week hire.
Located just west of Oxford, in the picturesque village of Cumnor, Oxenford House care home was keen to be able to provide a visiting solution for their residents to see their families. In such a difficult time, the staff at Oxenford wanted to ensure that meaningful, regular contact could be maintained between residents and their loved ones.
Purpose built in 1989, Oxenford House care home is part of the Abbeyfield Group and accommodates up to 25 residents. In order to facilitiate visits to their home, the staff at Oxenford opted for one of Showplace Ltd’s micropods on a hire basis. Initially for 12 weeks, this hire agreement has now been extended due to the popularity of the facility and the positive impact it has had on both residents and their visitors.

At a time when visiting needs to be restricted to protect our residents and staff, the visitor pod has been a fantastic asset to Oxenford House and both families and residents alike have said how much they have appreciated the space to enable them to visit. The micro pods provide care homes with a 2.7m x 1.5m dual room meeting area with separate ‘visitor’ and ‘resident’ entrances. Installed with wheelchair access ramps, wood vinyl non slip flooring, a two way intercom, as well as an electrical supply, heating and lighting, they are also suitable for small spaces. They are quick to install, easy to move to another site at any stage if required, and long term planning permission is not required. Easy to clean with wipe/spray clean surfaces, they are ideal for providing a safe visiting solution during this pandemic.
