West London NHS Trust (OPMHS) visiting pods are a part of daily life

NHS visiting pod West London

During our busy run up to Christmas, we were travelling up and down the UK, installing visiting pods for care homes, every day. We were particularly delighted to install two of our demountable trailer pods for the Older People’s Mental Health Services (OPMHS), an extremely valuable service within the West London NHS Trust.

As well as offering community services, OPMHS operates much needed in-patient facilities in West London, for older people with symptoms of dementia.

OPMHS’ Jubilee Ward is an acute admissions ward, a short stay unit, where it is intended for those who are treated to be discharged back to their own homes. In contrast, The Limes Unit is a long term in-patient environment, offering 24 hour specialist care to older people with dementia or a functional illness where symptoms prevent them being cared for in other longer term environments such as nursing homes.

With the huge restrictions on patient visits as we continue to battle against the Covid pandemic, OPMHS contacted Showplace to hire a visitor pod solution to enable their patients in both the Jubilee Ward, and the Limes Unit, to see their families and loved ones. In early December, our team installed two of our demountable trailer visiting pods, one at each of the west London sites. Two months on and it is heart warming to hear that the pods are being extremely well used, with the pod at the Limes Unit having become a daily feature and a crucial element for much needed family interaction.
