For the fourth year running, Gloucester Quays enlisted Showplace, in partnership with Christmas Ice Rinks, to install a large open-air ice rink to provide festive fun for families and friends.
Located in the heart of Orchard Square, the ice rink opened to the public on 14th November, providing the perfect winter holiday activity for families and friends to get together and enjoy the fun. Whether visitors were novices to the ice, or experienced skaters, everybody was welcome to have a go and get that winter festive feeling!
For more than 15 years, Showplace has supported its sister company, Christmas Ice Rinks Ltd, to provide the large-scale infrastructure required for its winter ice rinks. With Showplace Ltd’s support, Christmas Ice Rinks Ltd has provided towns, cities and major tourist attractions around the UK with a valuable opportunity to enhance their Christmas proposition. Seasonal ice rinks are a fantastic driver of footfall and really make a place stand out. By installing a temporary ice rink to provide a family-oriented centrepiece, Gloucester Quays generated valuable engagement with retailers and consumers, as well as attracting new visitors who wanted to tie in their Christmas shopping with some family fun!
Showplace and Christmas Ice Rinks provide all the necessary equipment, expertise, knowledge, staffing and ticketing systems to ensure that a safe, fun and unrivalled festive experience is created. Moda structures are used to create a magical back drop to the rinks, the skate exchange and the changing areas, while our exhibitions trailers are used as ticket offices and staff break areas, where facilities outside the main skate exchange are required.
