New Director Appointed

Donna BowenShowplace Ltd, the leading UK and Europe combined outdoor event service provider are delighted to announce the appointment of Donna Bowen to Sales & Marketing Director.

Donna is a highly qualified leader with over 15 years’ experience, most recently holding the position of Exhibitor Sales Director at, GES EMEA

This appointment comes as the company looks to build on indoor exhibition services in response to growing demands from clients to the company.

Donna will be responsible for taking Showplace to a wider event audience in their three core services, outdoor event structures, roadshows trailers and exhibition stands. Donna will be responsible for all aspects of the sales strategy development and deployment and will work closely with the other directors of the business to ensure they continue to deliver exceptional customer service.

How to Measure Success at Your Exhibition

How to Measure Success at Your ExhibitionWhen deciding to attend an exhibition or an event it’s very important to know exactly what you want to get from your presence at your chosen show, and how you intend to measure your success.

The most common reasons companies attend events, exhibitions and trade shows are:

  • To promote company awareness
  • To launch new products
  • To get sales leads from new prospects
  • To get sales leads from existing customers
  • To improve and maintain PR

This list is not the only reasons and there are various other reasons a company might attend a show, these however, are a great starting point for you to consider.

So, before you arrive at your event, you need to decide what you aim to get from it and how you’re going to quantify it as a success. I have put together a few thoughts to help you to make sure you know what you want to achieve and how to measure if you did so successfully.

  1. Set Goals

Define exactly what you want to achieve from attending the event or exhibition. Whether your goals are revenue based or they’re less clear and easy to measure, make sure you head into your event knowing exactly what you want to achieve.

For example, saying you want to “increase brand awareness” in not really a goal that can be easily measured. However, saying that you would like to “take the contact details for XX amount of leads to be able to follow up on after the event” is an easier way that is a measurable goal that you can see the success of after the event finishes.

  1. Set Timeframes

In addition to setting goals for your exhibition attendance, set time frames in which to achieve those goals. Perhaps set yourself the goal of following up on all the warm leads you’ve collected within 3 days of the event ending.

This is both easily measurable and easily achievable. And, it is best practice for following up on warm leads from exhibitions before they begin to go cold.

  1. Measuring Generated Sales

Measuring the amount of revenue your company generates that can be directly linked to an event is difficult, given that it is rare for sales to be closed at the exhibition itself and sometimes leads might take months, to convert.

You can get a fairly accurate and acceptable approximation of your ROI that is based on real statistics provided by your sales department if the sales leads generated from your exhibition is tracked from beginning to end. This then is an achievable measure of potential revenue from the exhibition. It is then down to your sales team to close those leads.

  1. Feedback

Another effective way of measuring your success is to encourage and seek out comprehensive feedback.

Talk to the staff you had on your stand, talk to your new prospects and existing customers and find out how valuable they thought your attendance was, it is simple to create your own survey to collect information that will prove invaluable to you as a company, this could be done by using a simple cost effective SurveyMonkey for example and send it to all the people whose email addresses you collected at the show.

Some of the questions you might want to ask;

  • Did the stand out and attract your attention and why?
  • Was the stand’s location good and why?
  • What should we do again and why?
  • What shouldn’t we do again and why?
  • How could we make it better?
  • What was the most valuable part of the show and why?
  • What was the least valuable part and why?
  • Were there enough (or too many) people at the stand and why?
  • Was the size of the stand appropriate and why?
  • Was the company literature effective and why?
  • Was the promotional material worthwhile and why?
  • Did you feel we displayed the right products and why?
  1. Conclusion

There are many ways to measure the success of your presence at an event, exhibition or trade show but the ones I have outlined here are often the most successful and easily measurable.

Whatever you want to achieve from your presence at the show make sure that you set clear and realistic goals before you go and measuring your performance shouldn’t be too difficult.

A hugely successful Showman’s Show for Showplace

The Showman’s Show 2016, held on 19th-20th October, at the usual venue, Newbury Showground was a huge success for Showplace.

The Showman’s Show caters for the outdoor event industry, being the only outdoor show of its kind in the UK. The show attracts over 5000 visitors, with an excess of 340 exhibitors, showcasing the most sophisticated structures, equipment, technology and entertainment demanded by the event industry.

Showplace worked with a record breaking number of clients at the show this year, working together to create truly stunning and brand effective exhibition stands, using our outdoor event structures and exhibition trailers.

A Plant awarded Best Stand Award

We were so pleased that our long standing client, A Plant, stole the show winning the Best Stand Award, where competition was certainly fierce. Showplace were tasked to create a truly special and functional stand, to activate the merger of their two acquired companies Eve Trackway and Lion Trackhire, under a new brand, named Live. Showplace covered a total area of 324sqm. We installed 6 of our 6m x 6m outdoor premium event structures, completed with a full internal fit out including a separate meeting room, a kitchen and store room, and put down a total of 108sqm of decking.

Showplace also provided our stunning outdoor event structures and exhibition trailers to a number of other clients at the show.

Calling all Beyoncé Fans – Formation World Tour Trailer

Showplace are delighted to be chosen to be an official partner/supplier to deliver the Roadshow Trailer for the Beyoncé Formation World Tour. The programme is set to cover all the dates and locations in the UK and Europe, from the first date in Sunderland to the last tour date in Barcelona, over a 6-week period.

The project includes a full exterior vinyl wrap as well as a full interior fit out on the roadshow trailer, to follow her already 500 strong event crew.

In a crowded space, jam packed with information overload from numerous exhibitors it is vital to maximise the potential of your allotted space and stand out. Incorporating an interactive screen, wall or floor into your exhibition stand will help to engage visitors, enabling them to connect with your brand in a way that they never have done before. At the same time, using an interactive screen will help you get your message across to visitors more successfully thanks to the use of graphics, images and videos.

 

QR Codes: Exhibition visitors tend to be very busy people, therefore it is vital that you grab their attention as quickly as possible, especially when they are attending an extremely popular exhibition.

One of the best technologies to ensure that this happens is Quick Response codes (QR Codes for short). These provide links into your website, online material or mobile apps and, as the QR codes are saved on the mobile device, it enables the user to return to your online information after they have left the event. This means that, even after the event has finished, the user still has access to your information.

 

Augmented Reality: This enables computer-generated graphics to overlay the real world and can be accessed easily through applications that have been developed for mobile devices.

The benefit of augmented reality is that you can merge the real world alongside virtual graphics, allowing you to present your data in a way that you might never have previously imagined.

 

In addition to the aforementioned technologies, there are additional options available to companies these days that will help your exhibition stand to become an even greater visitor experience. As we all know, the main objective of promoting your company and products via an exhibition stand is to remain in people’s thought once they have returned home and, thanks to these new technologies, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be achieving this goal every time.

Derby Ice Rink Now Open!

Showplace is delighted to announce that the Derby Ice Rink is now officially open once again in Derby’s Market Place until Tuesday 5th January 2016, courtesy of Showplace Events in collaboration with Derby LIVE.

Last year the festive ice rink proved to be a popular attraction with over 19,000 visitors gracing their skates on the ice! A further estimated 100,000 visitors enjoyed the beautiful Christmas setting in the Market Place, making it the perfect festive day/night out with friends, family and colleagues. However, it doesn’t end there, the ice rink also plays host to local Christmas market stalls offering a variety of exciting activities and entertainment, an ideal place to spend a wonderful wintery day!

Although only in its 3rd day since opening, the ice rink has received much popular coverage, covered on local television and radio, including our media partner Capital FM, which has helped to raise its awareness and boost popularity amongst the Derby locals.

Every year Showplace work hard to make the annual attraction bigger and better than before. This year’s festivities will host a number of fun filled themed nights including:
